A ventilator is a simple air pump that is working at pressures necessary for inflating the lungs of a person who is not able, for various medical reason, to breathe for themselves. During the process of this mechanical ventilation or artificial breathing, the lungs are inflated to a positive pressure, which is extreme opposite in the case of normal breathing, where the lungs are in a negative pressure.
There are different types of ventilators, from the very simple ones to highly complicated versions. Some of the ventilators are powered by air and some are electrically or electronically operated. In any type of ventilator, there are two valves present, one inspiratory and one expiratory. Inspiration happens when the air is going in the lungs and expiration happens when the air is coming out of the lungs.
At the start of the process of inspiration, the inspiratory valve opens and the expiratory valve closes, due to which air is allowed to go in the lungs, but is not allowed to go out. The opposite happens when the exhalation take place and this cycle goes on. While using any type of ventilator, it is necessary that an alarm is used in order to intimate the medical staff if something goes wrong.
Also, it is necessary to keep the ventilators in a prime condition and test them for their efficiency. The ventilator systems are designed to test various parameters of ventilator performance. The ventilator testing systems are designed to measure the flow of nitrous oxide, air and oxygen and pressure in different type of ventilators.
Such type of ventilator test systems are battery operated and is also capable of testing various other type of medical equipment like anesthesia gas delivery machines and oxygen concentrators. The ventilator test systems are used to measure parameters like volume, low pressure, flow, peak and peep pressure, respiratory rate, stacked volume, I:E ratio, oxygen concentration, etc.
Persistence Market Research forecasts that the global ventilator test system market is estimated to touch a valuation of US$ 199.2 Mn in 2026 and is expected to reflect a sluggish CAGR during the period of forecast.
The North American market is expected to emerge as the largest market for the global ventilator test systems in revenue terms. This trend is predicted to withstand itself all through the period of forecast. This makes the North America ventilator test system market as the most attractive one, and is projected to grow at a sluggish CAGR during the period of forecast.
As per the estimates of Persistence Market Research, the critical care ventilators segment is anticipated to touch a valuation of about US$ 80 Mn by the end of the year 2026. This entails a CAGR growth that is sluggish during the period of forecast 2017-2026. It is also estimated that the critical care ventilators segment to possess more than one-third of the revenue share of the ventilator type category by the end of the year 2017. This segment of the market is expected to lose in market share by 2026 over 2017.
As per the assessment of Persistence Market Research, the hospitals and clinics segment is slated to touch a valuation of about US$ 117 Mn at the end of the year 2026. This represents a CAGR of 3.8% during the period of forecast 2017-2026. It is also estimated from the projections that the hospitals and clinics segment to possess nearly two-third of the share of the revenue in the end-users category by the end of the year 2017. This segment is anticipated to lose market share by 2026 over 2017.
